Department of Sports and Youth Services Maharashtra float Republic Day Parade Mumbai 2020

In January 2020, the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Govt. of Maharashtra launched a program to empower girls through sports through the 'Go Girl Go' campaign. So it was wonderful to see not just a float with colourful cut-outs at the January 2020 Republic Day parade at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, but also have an actual presentation by young girls in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics, and the traditional sport of Malkamb. The proud medal winners also were on the float and were loudly cheered and applauded by the spectators.
