Want to buy a unique Ganapati idol for Ganesh Chaturthi this year? Take a look at the Ganapati idols created by Shubham Mangalmurti Arts.
Their main base is in Sajjangarh, Satara, Maharashtra, but they also have a workshop in Dadar, Mumbai and they start selling their idols a couple of months before the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Many of their idols are superb replicas of Gods or well-known Ganapatis in temples and city pandals. Check out the photos in this blog which showcase their skills and also see their playful Bal Ganesha idols.
The images in this blog have been taken with special permission. You can book one of their idols at this address: Chapra Building, R.K. Vaidya Road, opp. Vir Kotwal garden, Dadar (West), Mumbai -400028. You can view the idols on the ground floor. The idols on the first floor are accessible via a steep set of steps which you may find risky to climb as they are wet due to the rains. So take care when going upstairs. You could perhaps request them to bring down the idol of the height and type you are looking for.
Here are some of the unique Ganapati idol forms -
1. Ganapati as Lord Vishnu
This awesome idol depicts Lord Vishnu seated on a lotus, holding a conch shell in one hand at the back and the Sheshnag behind the crown on the head.
2. Ganapati as Panduranga
This serene idol depicts Ganapati as Lord Vithoba or Panduranga, holding the traditional kartals (wood clappers) used in devotional songs.
3. Jyotiba Ganapati
This majestic idol represents the idol in the Jyotiba Temple at Kolhapur. It is believed that the temple idol is the combined form of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The idol always has a rose in the right hand and the headgear is a unique one.
4. Siddhivinayaka Ganapati
This notable idol is the replica of the idol in the temple at Prabhadevi, Mumbai. You can see the same depiction in the image below, with a lotus in the right arm at the back and a small axe in the left arm at the back, while there is a short string of holy beads in the front right hand and a modak in the front left hand. On either side are the Goddesses Riddhi & Siddhi.
