Every year, we have visited the Bengal Club's Durga Puja pandal at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, been awed by the grand decor, and the beautiful idols, and mesmerized by the Puja aartis. After a two-year break due to the pandemic, we were happy to once visit the pandal and soak in the grandeur. This year's pandal has been designed by Nitin Desai, the well-known Art Director who designs sets for Bollywood.
The 100th year of the Bengal Club is surely something to celebrate, and the pandal created for the Club's 87th Durga Puja celebrations is something not to be missed. Eye-catching over all else is, naturally, the idol of Goddess Durga, this year's tallest one in Mumbai - 18 feet to be precise.
As mentioned earlier, the pandal has been designed by Nitin Desai based on the temple architecture of the Mauryan era.
The clothing and food stalls that are a huge attraction every year have been set up in the nearby Bharat Scouts and Guides Hall within the park. So don't miss out on visiting the stalls - there are really beautiful sarees and salwar-kurta sets of a wide variety of colours, most of them from West Bengal.
